Investment Opportunities in Kenya

Horn Equatorial is pleased to promote Kenya as an ideal investment opportunity with an excellent infrastructure and a conducive business environment. Kenya has enjoyed a stable political climate and is well regarded as the economic force in the region.

The Government of Kenya has gradually and cautiously liberalized the telecommunications and the power sector with notable foreign investors who have already invested in this sector.

In addition, the Government has a sound export promotion policy with excellent incentives available in the E.P.Z (Export Processing Zone) and the COMESA Free Trade Area.

Kenya is also a beneficiary under the US established African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) which was designed to foster economic and political relations between the USA and Sub-saharan African countries. AGOA has not only opened up opportunities in the textile and apparel sub-sector, but it also includes about 2000 items under the generalized system of preferences that will enter the US duty and quota free.

With regards to European markets, Kenya has signed the Cotonou Agreement, which is a treaty which covers Africa, the Caribbean and Pacific, and the European Union. The agreement guaranteed preferential trade arrangements and market access to European markets, in addition to technical and financial assistance.
